Jailer Story Jailer is an action drama written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Story Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is a retired jailer who is now spending his days with his loving family. He is respected by everyone in his community, but he is also feared by criminals. One day, Pandian's son, who is also a cop, goes missing while investigating a case involving an idol-stealing gang. The police claim that Pandian's son committed suicide, but Pandian knows that something is not right. Pandian sets out to find his son and bring the people responsible to justice. He soon discovers that the idol-stealing gang is not just a simple criminal organisation. They are also corrupt police officers who are willing to do anything to protect their secrets.

Film Progress Sun Pictures announced on February 10, 2022, that they will be producing a new film starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson. It started with test shoots in Chennai in late July 2022, but the main shoot was supposed to start in Hyderabad on August 3rd. However, a strike in Hyderabad delayed the start of filming by at least three weeks. The shoot finally started in Chennai on August 22nd.
By October, filming was also taking place in Cuddalore. In January 2023, a small filming schedule took place in Jaisalmer. The following month, filming began in Mangalore.
